Whether you’ve just moved to the city or want to holiday in Tampa, this is a great place to be on the Fourth of July. This Sunshine State city offers lots of things to do during the summer and its 4th of July celebrations are rather varied. You won’t be bored if you’re here during this time of year. Some of the top things to do in Tampa on the Fourth of July include:

Channelside celebration

Located on the outskirts of downtown, the Channelside District has become famous for its Fourth of July celebration. This waterfront shopping and dining district is the perfect place for individuals and families to spend the 4th of July. Within Channelside itself you’ll find cruise ship terminals, a bowling alley, plenty of boutique shopping and lots of restaurants. Plus, the fireworks tend to light up the sky around 9 p.m. on the 4th. If you’re so inclined, you can also visit the nearby Florida Aquarium for a little family fun before the show.

Lutz Fourth of July Celebration

The little town of Lutz is found just north of Tampa on U.S. 41. Here visitors will find a Norman Rockwell sort of July 4th celebration in the main park off 41. Festivities generally include such things as a parade, a competition for “Honorary Guv’na,” Civil War re-enactments, food, crafts, displays and more. If you’re itching for small town fun, this is the place to go.

Sparklebration

Head north on Interstate 75 and get off on State Road 52. Meander toward Dade City and the fairgrounds and you’ll find this small town celebration under way. Hosted by the Pasco County Fair Association, this fireworks show includes music, refreshments and more. Gates tend to open around 4 p.m., but don’t expect the skies to light up before dark.

Top of the World

The Museum of Science and Industry is offering Tampa residents a chance to see the city’s many fireworks from the top of the IMAX Dome. The Fowler Avenue museum will also play host to its own fireworks show after dark. This event costs a pretty penny at $225 a person or $400 per couple, but it promises to be quite the experience, complete with dinner, entertainment and champagne.
